4K and Dolby Vision require more than a brief peak speed: sustained throughput, controlled jitter, and packet-loss recovery matter more. A speed test that looks fast for a short period does not guarantee stable long-form video. Streaming platforms adjust bitrate based on actual reception over time, so even minor route fluctuations can cause lower quality, buffering, or audio to get ahead of video.
The playback device and platform subscription tier also affect the final picture quality. The display must support the required resolution and dynamic range, while the app version, system decoding capability, connection interface, and the platform’s available source must also meet the requirements. If a title only plays in standard HD, test content that clearly offers higher quality before blaming the route.
When troubleshooting, pause other downloads, cloud sync, and high-bandwidth tasks, then replay using another streaming route in the same region. If webpages work normally but all high-quality content frequently downgrades, check local Wi-Fi quality and router load. If only one platform is affected while others play steadily, platform detection or account-region issues are more likely.
